Please note that per design, some cards do not allow deleting X.509 certificates. This is the case of the Feitian PKI: See: http://www.opensc-project.org/opensc/ticket/215 Other cards can simply not be erased. This is a security feature. Once the cards was initialized and certificates are transferred/generated, the card is read-only. So your abstraction layer needs to be able to handle this.
