Understood, thanks Adam. Your perspective on the LGPL was closer to mine hence the reason I asked. But I understand the core team needs time to consider their position. Personally I think if it's possible to open it up that's a good thing as it may encourage some collaboration between viewer and server development.

The LGPL is a much less risky license for us to work with - since if it turns out developer code is infringing, it is possible to convert that into a separate library and distribute accordingly under the LGPL. Nonetheless, it's a welcome change - but we might have to hold until we've got some formal advice before changing the contributor agreement.
