The project team evaluated the target directories based on what was commonly done by other unix distributions, but the utilities provided by pmtools are closely related to the perl module and pod tools and utilities found in /usr/perl5/5.8.4/bin (/usr/perl5/bin) on OpenSolaris. My recommendation would be to deliver pmtools to the /usr/perl5/5.8.4/bin directory now, and file a bug to rethink where perl components should go in mass like you suggest. This would get end users access to the tools in the least amount of time. Moving current Perl components around is beyond the scope of the project team. I don't know who the current Perl masters are. We may be able to help to some extent, but resources are extremely tight (ie. we need a re-architecture project that focuses on putting things in the "right" places). If we move Perl out of ON into SFW (and make SFW easier to build), the broader OpenSolaris community would be able to help more...
