I'm in general agreement with this. Case by case review gives us the
best chance at providing or at least documenting interface stability
while allowing us to evolve, and hopefully get better, as new innovations
are made. I don't believe in special cases, especially since non-Sun
initiated cases could become the majority over time as OpenSolaris
becomes more dominate due to both its Sun and non-Sun derived technologies.

Like several have said, and J?rg Schilling summarizes nicely:

"The most obvious solution for this problem is to establish more
collaboration with the community."

In order to better match reality, we need to connect more with key
"external" open source projects, and continue to do whatever we can
to bring the community into the architecture review process, including
actively recruiting more "external" ARC members from key open technology
areas.

Ultimately I think diversity provides the most strength and stability
over time.
