Maybe those of use who are like-minded about cleaning the world up
should start a project, or a community?  Linux has "kernel janitors":
http://janitor.kernelnewbies.org/.

It seems like the scope could include:

        - Code cleanliness (lint, cstyle)
        - "Checking" tools
        - Cscope and friends
        - Retiring dead code
        - Retiring dead subsystems

Just a thought for discussion.
