Unfortunately, these things happen sometimes with internal projects, too. AFAICT, the ksh93 work is braving new territory in terms of a complex piece of work being driven by someone outside Sun. I don't think it would be realistic to expect a completely smooth ride (though I confess that things have been bumpier than I had expected).
