Ouch, many of my colleagues will most likely be hurt by that comment. Considering that Solaris is probably one of the most stable operating systems, historically, it's sad to see such a comment. I will personally be watching to see how things change, but one person historically has not been able to change things too drastically. Out of curiousity, what gives you the feeling of assurance knowing that Ian is at Sun, that you didn't have before you knew he was here? Many people know what most of the problems are, and even Solaris Engineering is working on several of those as we type...install, packaging, open source consolidating out of /usr/sfw, etc... I'm anxious to hear what Ian has to say once he has some time to look at things. Would like to hear him talk about some of his Solaris experience as of recent, and/or what type of hardware he's running Solaris on, what issues if any he had during install, how it's performed for him, etc... Wouldn't it be ironic to find out he was using Solaris for all of the LSB work he's been involved with, for instance? -- Alan DuBoff - Solaris x86 Engineering - IHV/OEM Group Advocate of insourcing at Sun - hire people that care about our company! _______________________________________________ opensolaris-discuss mailing list opensolaris-discuss@opensolaris.org
