I encountered the same problem that you did, and I found a solution. The hint was here:
http://flux.org.uk/howto/solaris/fix_boot_archive Reboot in b89 or the stable release of your choice. Then mount your new filesystem... # pfexec mount -F zfs rpool/ROOT/opensolaris-1 /mnt Tell solaris to rebuild your boot archive... # pfexec bootadm update-archive -R /mnt And reboot. That's it!
