Thanks.  I didn't find the documentation on how to get pkg to
use this cache, and a couple of try-it-and-see guesses resulted
in pkg telling me it had the full amount to download.

Sounds like it could satisfy me, once use of it is documented in
pkg --help and/or the manpage.
