I've installed Open Solaris 2008.05 on a Mac Mini Core Duo and after fixing the NIC (with Marvell driver), WIFI (attaching driver) and Sound (with OpenSound driver) I still have a few issues.
During bootup the OS reports, "asy0: Cannot identify UART chip at 0x3f8". I believe this corresponds to one of the problems highlighted in the device driver utility, "Standard PC COM port ... asy (Driver Misconfigured) Device driver utility also reports an issue with another device. Its identified by Vendor ID 0x8086 (intel) and device id 0x27a3. prtconf reports it as a "Performance Counters" (model field value). If I connect a external hard disk (usb, sata disk) solaris freezes, ie. screen remains with the same display, but no further user input is possible. Can anyone point me at potential solutions for any or all of these problems? This message posted from opensolaris.org
