I am pretty new to this environment (windows/mac background) and am probably 
gonna do a reinstall, or try another computer.  Thanks for the feedback.  I 
have been messing with PC BSD for a couple of months and may jump to this if I 
can get everything to work (no sound) as I like the look and feel of this 
better.  Do you happen to know how often people are having issues with no 
sound?  Thanks again.
