It does that until the graphical login starts, or you hit a key. Since
you disabled graphical login, hit escape or return and you should get a
text console. You can also edit the grub menus to remove the splashimage
and the the graphical boot options.
You could also have done "svcadm disable -t gdm" to just temporarily
disable it until the next reboot.
