I've now tried to make it more look like a tab bar by adding vertical bars
between the buttons. Is it now better?

Feel free to suggest cookies. I've just initially created one. My intent was
to make it read a little bit offensive, but not too much. But I've no
objections to change it. All the cookie should do is: first to be an eye
catcher (a typography aspect) and second to direct attention to the project (a
psychological aspect). Any short phrase which does this should be ok. Usually
a _short_ and rhetorical _question_ is best for this. Any other phrase
suggestions?

Now we have:

o rse: "Why buy an SSL tookit as a black-box
when you can get an open one for free?"

o mark: "A supported, open SSL toolkit with source"

What else do you want to see on the welcome page?

I've included it because in CVS commit messages and other dev.openssl.org
related stuff you see the OpenSSL addresses of us. So I thought it can be
reasonable for the users to have them listed there. That's all. More opinions
on this?

Hmmm...yes. That still looks crazy. Usually with more tarballs it looks as
intended by me. Then all other tarballs indicate that it's a link and the red
line indicates just the latest tarball. Let us keep it until we have two
tarballs. I think then it looks better. Look under
http://www.engelschall.com/sw/mod_ssl/distrib/ to see the optic I speak about.

Better suggestion? I've added it as a little deterrant and joke. Because it's
really fantastic how much people don't read and really do these mistakes.
Especially for instance the [EMAIL PROTECTED] occurs once per week for the
mod_ssl list and it also already occured today for the openssl-users list.
So, what to do? Remove it completely or replace it? And when replace it, with
what sentence?
