Sigh, I don't have a statistic, but I peak out at 10 messages per day on the
openssl-* lists...

Let's answer it this way: you can add your own cipher algorithm, but you
will only be able to use it with your own client/server application.
The supported ciphers are part of the TLS specification. If you add your
own cipher, no other software will support it (unless added to the next
release of the RFC).
