I agree. I am talking long term, and needs to be addressed by all the open 
source community. Just adding a lib to /usr/local/lib is not good enough 
anymore. 

One of the problems is the interdependencies of all these Open Source packages.
If they only build one version, 32 or 64, then the rest have to be built 
the same way. 

For example at our site I see OpenSSH, OpenSSL, Kerberos, OpenAFS all being
used in combination.

I would like to see OpenSSL take a lead on this, building both 32 and 64 
bit versions where appropriate.
