Terje, GNOME-Classic was considered less important by myself and I did not want to block the entire repo until I have the time to fix this one. The gnome-classic entry appears in GDM upon installation of the gnome-shell-classic package; due to minor errors, though, this still starts a normal gnome-shell session. The idea is, of course, not having to go and enable the Extensions one by one: the shell knows what is needed for the classic mode and will switch them all on, as well as enabling nautilus as the 'desktop'. Mind though: this will stay GNOME 3. The classic mode is in no way meant to be GNOME 2.. those times are over; the ones that keep on trying to hang on to it should look for any of the forks that happened (Cinnamon, Mate); I will not invest time in maintaining them.
