I have the exact same configuration, C7 with 1GB ram thinclients.

Regarding Openchrome driver, did you try version 3 of the OTC (without
openchrome driver, viachrome driver instead) v.s. version 4 of OTC
(openchrome introduced)?

Personally, I am not sure where should i look for the performance
difference. I know there was number of discussions going on in the forum but
turned out to be non-viachrome driver related.

So i am rather curious to understand the performance gains by introducing
openchrome to VIA C7 based systems at the least. Would appreciate
clarification and/or share of experience on that matter.

Inline with the topic of heat issue, i have the exact same feedback. As
(all)most apps run in local resource, C7 fanless gets quite warm-to-hot.

One current fact about the OTC on VIA at least (havent tried others) is
there is no power saving enabled.
i.e. if you leave the OTC PC on, it wont go to powersave mode or screensaver
or lock the desktop of the user - which are not only heat-generating issues
but security as well.

I am very interested to know if there could be utilization of VIA PowerSaver
or alternate methods to cool these puppies under OTC - also think of the
basic security/savings measures of enabling screensaver and desktop lock
after certain period/key-combination like windowsKey+L in WINDOWS.

I'm off to test the local proto. too. Martin, you did it again!!!

All the best!
