i have tried, works great for me copying single files in the 200-600MB range from local hard disk to USB2 is as fast or faster than from one partition of the local drive to another via the parallel
all the drives in question are 7200RPM and the cables are USB2 type i have seen HUBs slow down performance a bit, perhaps that is your issue i have not tried firewire though, but since it needs drivers and plug in cards which are non standard on most boxes it is not nearly as attractive with the USB mass storage device type recognized by windows you can walk one of these puppies up to almost any box and start dumping data immediately lets have a race ! i'll make some timings Dennis Saputelli Frank Gilley wrote: > > Dennis, > > Try copying large blocks of data, and you'll see the problem with USB2.0. > Firewire is the only interface of this type that seems to work very well.
