Hi all,
Tried this command yesterday, and it was still hanging this morning.
Manager is not running (9390) since it wont start without the rebuild.
So the 2.0.4 upgrade doesnt seem to have worked, at least not for Ubuntu
11.04. Has anybody tested openvas 4 compile on this platform? This is
pretty dissapointing since I was gonna use it for vulnerability tests on
production networks.
openvasmd --slisten 127.0.0.1 --sport 9391 --rebuild

When I do this it completes instantly and the script gives me the same
error. Think i have a gigabit connection (at least 100 megs). Machine
has 4GB of Ram, SATA2 disk and a recent CPU.
openvasmd --port 9391 --sport 127.0.0.1 --rebuild
Should the command be different than this?
--sport is the Scanner port, so it should be whatever port the Scanner is
listening on, usually 9391. --port in that the command is the Manager
port, usually 9390. To give the Scanner address use --slisten 127.0.0.1.
There are Manager logs in PREFIX/var/log/openvas/openvasmd.log that may
help. PREFIX dedpends on how you installed; usually /usr/local/ if you
installed from source.
