Hi List,
i already posted this in the Forums, but got no response. Maybe more luck with
the mailinglist :)
I'm using the check_apt plugin quite a long time on pure debian systems. Now
i'm facing this issue on ubuntu hosts: check_apt keeps telling me that there
are NO security related updates. Ubuntu, on the other hand, generates a motd
on a regular base (you see the motd if you login via ssh) which tells there
ARE security relevant updates..
I guess it's the way HOW ubuntu determines if there are security relevant
updates or not. The motd generation is being done by a huge python script i
don't understand..
I tried to use custom regular expressions with check_apt, but the repositorys
of ubuntu (lucid) doesn't have any "security" - names in it.
Maybe someone is monitoring ubuntu servers also, and can give me a little bit
insight of how you monitor the package status?
Regards,
Markus
