I purchased a 40 bit server certificate from Verisign. The ONLY question
related to my actual configuration was 'What is your server software?'. I
answered 'JavaSoft'. Beyond that there were no questions related to what
kind of certificate I wanted. This is much different than Thawte which has
numerous choices to select from.

However, at that point, after being told by Thawte that they no longer
issued the kind of certificate I had been using in development, I was
deperate. I started the Verisign process and luckily, it worked. In reality
though, I had to go to production using apache and JRun as my webserver/SSL
layer, using orion only as the EJB layer. The Verisign certificate showed up
later, along with a specific fix for Orion. I've since switched to an all
orion installation.

I think the orion folks are working on more complete documentation (its
about time, no actually its way overdue) regarding how to/what to obtain
regarding SSL certs.

If you look back in the archives I wrote up a complete note on how I
obtained this cert, including the initial steps to create a certificate
signing request using JDK 1.3.
