it) intended to merge the existing Oscar and other OSGi projects...
Correct, Noel. We decided to keep the Oscar name for continuity with
the user community. It's like saying OSGi is only for "service
gateways," as in Open Services Gateway Initiative. Sure, by keeping an
old name you risk a perception problem, but usually the risk of losing
"mindshare" is greater. The decision to use Oscar is similiar.
