That's the output of `file /bin/bash`?  'file' is a Linux command to
determine the type of the input file.  It looks like you simply ran
'/bin/bash'?

Weird - can you post the exact messages when it kernel panicked?

Also, maybe you can try to boot the client node with a rescue cd and
manually install Grub.
