Hi,
First I want to thank everyone who responded to my earlier request for help
with the network hanging during cluster install. The correct answer was
provided by Vann H. Walke:
"An x.x.x.255 address is a broadcast address. Do not use an address like
this for your server. 10.0.0.254 or 10.0.0.1 would be logical choices.
The response to your ping is from the local machine (responding to the
broadcast)."
The OSCAR documentation could be improved with a mention that one should
not use address x.x.x.255 for the server.
Now for the next problem:
My cluster installation is hung up at the beginning of Step 7, "Complete
Cluster Install".
Oscar_install on the server says,
--> Step 7: Running: ./post_install
Gathering processor count from oscarnode1.
[EMAIL PROTECTED]'s password:
It then sits and waits for me to type in a password, which it should not do
as linux was installed on oscarnode1 by SIS, and I certainly never set a
password. I don't know the password, I don't know why it should ask me for
a password. And the server refuses to budge.
The client node maintains a poker face:
Red Hat Lunix release 7.3 (Valhalla)
Kernel 2.4.18-3smp on an i686
oscarnode1 login:
Does anyone know how I can get beyond this hangup?
Thanks,
Ed
