Apart from my inability to run "kernel-picker" (may be my own lack of neurons), I am stuck at this same point. Except that none of my nodes can see each other or the mother node, and visa versa. The install using a boot floppy worked fine. I have tried to manually configured the interfaces and still no joy. Before imaging, running the default install of RH 7.3 on the slave nodes had no problem with networking.
I'm going to look at pfilter today. Seems to be the only thing in the OSCAR package that could shutdown networking. The /etc/pfilter.conf file on the nodes may be screwed up. And a note. If you do a "start over", clean up the /etc/hosts file! Especially if you decide to change IP's on the mother node.
But this was happening before the many re-installs I have done.

Hi,
I wrote yesterday that Oscar2.1 Step 7 resulted in a hang with a request for password on oscarnode1. This occurs in scripts/post_install where an ssh command is issued to each node, in order to find out how many processors each node has.
So, I tried ssh oscarnode1.oscardomain in a root window and, after a long delay (a minute or so), got a request for the root password, just like I reported yesterday.
I tried pinging the client nodes and all ping's failed! This despite the fact that I had just successfully installed all the client nodes over the same network.
The server IP is 10.0.0.254, the clients are 10.0.0.x, and the netmask is 255.255.255.0.
neat shows nothing wrong with the network.
I'm at a loss as to what could be wrong here. Thanks in advance for any help!
Ed
