An updated version of SystemImager would work (3.4.1+, not the one we
ship with OSCAR).

You'll have a hard time managing the packages though, since the head and
the image/clients are running different architectures.  This is
something we wanted to work towards in the future.

And he did say that he has Athlon64 on his 'server' (I assume he is
referring to the headnode).
