First of all, thanks for the reply *Michael Edwards* .
I had downloaded those four files. (i had downloaded the sprm file, of which
i was ambigious of).

5,898,587            oscar-base-5.0.tar.gz
72,915,491          oscar-repo-common-rpms-5.0.tar.gz
41,66,418            oscar-repo-fc-4-x86_64-5.0.tar.gz
100,235,564         oscar-srpms-5.0.tar.gz

And no this the Linux fedora core 4. All they had told/ recommended that
nothing to install before it. So i did not install any thing (and off course
i did not upgrade the kernel).

Probably oscar-repo-common-rpms-5.0.tar.gz, but thats just a guess.

If this is not the case then you will need to post your entire
oscarinstall.log file and as much detail about what you did as you
can.

Was this a new, non-updated install of FC4?  That is our standard testing
setup.
