Patents are good. Software patents, on the other hand, are way too often abused. That's bad. Kalo >> tak silap saya la. One important bit to realize is that you're almost automatically protected by Copyright on your code you publish. Trademarks need to be applied for, that'll take time. Again, you're already protected via Copyright law (part of Intellectual Property) without having to wait 3 years nor pay money. As for Patents and Industrial Designs as applied to Malaysia, I'm not informed enough to comment. Anyone? Perhaps it's also a good idea, via osdc.my or otherwise, to make more informed IP articles available in Malay? Perhaps a groklaw.net commentary/summary in Malay (articles by pj is CC by-nc-nd no derivative, so we can't offer a translation).
