"free" have different slant when it comes to the Open Source world.
("Free speech != Free teh tarik"). Izhar's comments are directed
specifically (be more specific, Izhar!) towards Software Patents,
which Open Source developers, and tech entrepreneurs find being
barriers (aka "restriction", aka "no freedom") to software
development. The Open Source Development Community in general spends
immeasurable effort just working around Software Patents (see .gif/lzw
vs .png/deflate[1]), just so you can have wonderful software like what
you may be using today.
For example, say you built a Super Easy Mega Make Money Fast software,
but it turned out that because someone else software patented the
obvious One-Click Make Money button, the core and idea of your project
is made illegal and you've to shut your project and company down.

Patents rock. Software patents suck. (which, IIRC, is a topic of a
talk in MSC OSCONF recently?)
