There is no need to download the osgmovie code from that web page. It's included as one of the examples in the main OSG source distribution. The version on the web page is older, and is included just so people browsing the web page can look at the source easily without having to download a complete OSG source kit.
As far as OpenCV and OpenInventor, they're both great at what they do. And so is OSG. You are probably using apps developed with OSG and you don't even realize it. It's far from a toy. You're being needlessly confrontational and critical.
