After some tests it seems that the pbuffer-implementation of Producer does not work as expected on my MBP (SetPixelFormat failed for some odd reasons) -- I downloaded other pbuffer-example-code and it worked as described.
I'll keep you updated when I find some more time to investigate the issue a little more in detail.
