And this is another issue that leads people to get upset with
enlightenment teachers--a number of people turn to spirituality
because they are having so much trouble with money and sex in their
ordinary life, so they want to forget their bodies, forget their
dreary jobs, forget their messed up emotions, and go and sit in white
robes and be all pure like. But that's just life-denying. They can
then become quite upset when they notice that the teacher is not
someone who denies life, and actually he or she does have a sex life
and does make money to put bread on the table. Some of them even make
money being paid to teach. But gee, the piano teacher must be a fraud
if I have to pay him to teach music!

It just isn't that simple. Add in the complication that women find
successful charismatic guys attractive...

One guy I saw owned property, had a very attractive wife half his own
age, and drove a black Merc. Does that mean he's corrupt... or just
normal and successful?

And if you do get spiritual insights, what use are they if you can't
apply to real life, including money and sex?

I mean, personally I just think the ultimate Zen Koan is,

"does my bum look big in this?"
