I've actually known a few people who joined cults or cult-like religions. A couple were pretty dense, another was pretty bright and one was emotionally damaged by the murder of her husband and children. They all had some kind of hole in their personalities that was filled by the cult leader. What this discussion seems to be missing is that cult leaders and charismatic religious figures are meeting a demand. As long as there are people who need this kind of leadership there will be cult leaders. -- In America, anybody can be president. That's one of the risks you take. -Adlai Stevenson, statesman (1900-1965) _______________________________________________ OSX-Nutters mailing list | [email protected] http://lists.tit-wank.com/mailman/listinfo/osx-nutters List hosted at http://cat5.org/
