The Irgun bombed the King David Hotel in 1946.

The Stern Gang is described as follows in Wikipedia.
"Lehi was described as a terrorist organization[4] by the British
authorities and United Nations mediator Ralph Bunche.[5] Lehi carried
out the Nov 1944 assassination in Cairo of Lord Moyne along with other
attacks on the British authorities and Palestinian Arabs. The newly-
formed Israeli government banned the organization under an anti-
terrorism law passed three days after the Sept 1948 assassination of
the UN mediator Folke Bernadotte.[6]
Israel granted a general amnesty to Lehi members on 14 February 1949
and in 1980 the group was honored by the institution of the Lehi
ribbon, a military decoration the organization's former members are
entitled to wear."

The Bush administration started firing missiles into Iraq in 2003.
Iraq clearly never provoked us the way Israel has provoked Hamas.

There you go again. Somehow in your mind the fact that Hamas is a
terrorist organization justifies everything Israel does but nothing
Israel does justifies anything Hamas does. Nobody is defending Hamas
or their backers in Iran. We are simply suggesting that for Israel and
their US backers to pretend that their hands are completely clean is
pure hypocrisy.

It's simply false to say that Israel couldn't negotiate with Hamas.
Hamas was willing to extend the cease fire in return for a lifting of
the blockade. Today on 'This Week' Olmert started off with the Hamas
wont negotiate line and when he was challenged reverted to the 'we
can't trust them' line. And maybe it's true that Israel can't trust
them. But the plain fact is that it wasn't Hamas who refused to
negotiate.
