Well I was hoping that the SSD would give me a lot more "speed" at least for launching and switching between apps and for short writes - and that this might even compensate a little for RAM shortages if the VM swaps were dramatically faster - but this latter might be the ravings of a naive loon. Wouldn't consider an SSD as a TM back-up volume, or a destination volume for the output of scripted manipulations of large files, but that's not what I'd be doing on this machine. More the usual light mix of laptop stuff: mail, web, editing of small files, a bit of iTunes, a bit of iPhoto and a lot of DVD watching on planes and trains. (The latter, together with the RAM ceiling, being that which is gently pulling me away from an Air.) _______________________________________________ OSX-Nutters mailing list | [email protected] http://lists.tit-wank.com/mailman/listinfo/osx-nutters List hosted at http://cat5.org/
