Hello Suzanne:
Willard and Spackman's Occupational Therapy (Edited by Neistadt &
Crepeau): 9th Edition (1998), which is the veritable bible of OT in my
opinion in its glossary (p. 867) states:
Cognition = Ability to think and reason to solve problems.
If that isn't OT I want to know what is? Besides there is no dearth of
evidence on the substantive OT involvement in cognitive re-training in
traumatic brain injury, acquired brain injury as well as stroke. This
is an issue worth taking a stand on even as one polishes up the old
resume. Good luck on this one, because ignorance is bliss in the ivory
tower where your supervisor and director are lost.
