I think he's got an internal situation where he needs the ip of the
submitting user... If dhcp, I don't see how that's necessarily going to
help, and if it's static, (IMO), This can be stored with the Customer
information as an additional field.

Further, if the IP address relates to a remote control application, either
the remote control application should have this user-ip label matching or a
reverse-help connection may be useful: client downloads and runs a "helpme"
application -- VNC with reverse server connection that calls home is one
example. TeamViewer QuickSupport is another.
