My guess is the two threads before this one, both poorly edited with the footers left on.
This is a subject of netiquette http://lowendmac.com/lists/netiquette.shtml simple rules for members of all lowend lists. It has more to do with laziness than "eye of the beholder". People must mention this every so often as a way to educate people who can't be bothered reading the netiquette page as the subscription page suggests.
In most email clients things like the footers of the previous post are cut automagically some clients require a preference adjustment, older clients require manual editing but folks using these generally know the program.
Good call Jerome, as most 5 year old pc email clients automagically cut the footers atleast, I'd also agree. ;)
