Hi William,

Currently, the aliases added/deleted after startup are not added to an
alias file.

There are a couple of policy issues to think about:

1. Would the file be opened and closed with every alteration? With the
new entry appended to the end?
2. Should the "saved" alias file be the original, or a new file
(possibly the same one if the same name is specified).

And the real problem that has held me back:
3. How do I handle a distributed system with owhttpd, owfs, and
owserver(s)? Each one might see only some of the alias activity.

In the limit we almost need a separate alias database with
communication between all programs.

The easiest approach would be to add a flag that the alias file will
be updated with each entry/deletion and you could put that on your
owhttpd. Would that solve your needs?

Simplify data backup and recovery for your virtual environment with vRanger.
Installation's a snap, and flexible recovery options mean your data is safe,
secure and there when you need it. Data protection magic?
Nope - It's vRanger. Get your free trial download today.
