I use an off-the-shelf dpdt 10A@240V relay with a 12V coil and turn it
on and off with a bc547 in common emitter.  This can be driven by an
arduino pin or any similar TTL level output.  You'll want a wall wart
or similar at the relay.

It's been happily click-clacking for years.  They are more efficient
than most solid state relays, and vastly more robust.  I also use
KIS-3whatevers as remotely controlled low voltage high current sources
by driving their enable pin.  At $.20 each, they are by far the
cheapest controlled source.
