OK - 2.7p21 still has a problem on the router so I guess its an endianess issue. The router I'm using, a TPLink WR-1043ND, uses the AR71XX series SOC which is MIPS based. As I said before, all the reads are OK, so I suppose its something to do with all those nasty shifts, ands and ors that are required to talk to a single output on a DS2413. Looks like I'll be going back to the old Dallas s/w for a while, if only I can work out why is won't talk to a USB9097 which is based on the same DS2480B as I use on my WRT54GL box!
