Jo,   It is really hard to control the fear that hospitals generate around birth. No I will correct that and say the fear that some people within the hospitals generate around birth.   For me the most important thing that I do is to create a space that a woman feels safe to birth in. That you were able to hold the space for this woman so that she did not just clam up and stop birthing is brilliant. Without your encouragement it is probable that the outcome for this woman would have been very different as there would have only been fear and adrenaline rushing around.   Well done and power to this woman who birthed despite the hospital.   In peace and joy   Sally Westbury
