Different states have different rules.  If one wants to register as a midwife only in W.a., prior registration in another state which does allow it is necessary.  Direct entry Midwives who need to work in W.A. have to be registered in the other state before they can get registration here via the mutual obligations legislation which allows cross border transfer of qualifications.as midwives. Marilyn,  Are you also a nurse?  Because when I told the Vic Nurses Board that I only wanted to register as a midwife, they told me that it was not possible.
I asked about the new midwives - those graduates without nursing- I was told they'd think of that then.
