I find it very interesting that parents ask so
readily in the system to have their babies weighed. I don't find my mums ask too
quickly after birth and maybe a couple of hours pass by before I get around to
it. Mostly mum has fed her baby and she has cleaned up and feels settled.
At this time I offer to weigh baby and do the physical check. Another plus for
homebirth I guess, unrushed as apposed to the routines of hospital which is sad
really. Shame mums and dad's can't have as a relaxed adjustment into parenthood
in hospital as they do at home.
