Tania i will try to find out where I got those stats, I know they are true but they are primips less than 41 weeks don't forget, my worry is that once a cs always a blah blah blah. At a recent class when they were all talking about inductions, epidural ... forceps etc I got frustrated and said,,, you don't have to have a crap first birth before thinking about having a great second one...they all looked at me and I was like oh did I say that out loud??? They all responded in great ways...I am getting so out there in my classes I am going to get into more trouble soon, like I have done in the past ( I seriously was complained about because MY women thought they had choices...I still can't believe midwives find that a problem enough to complain!!!!!!!), don't forget some hospital midwives are working hard and getting sh or should i say BANNANAS, are your kids into Gwen??) it too.... love me

Hi Belinda,

Is this stat published anywhere, or just anecdotal? A 60% section rate is
twice the rate for the state, and I think twice the average for that
hospital too, and having just heard a leading obstetrician there tell women
that there is NO risk of an increase in c/s as a result of induction, I'm
trying to get my head around it...

Just wondering if there are any good quality trials about IOL and increase of c/s? Have just re-read Enkin, and it does state that IOL is not associated with an increase in caesarean section rate (but given that most states here are up around the 30% mark, you have to wonder what they are comparing that to?), but I thought something came out of the Uk not long ago disputing this?

Anyone?
