Hi Marko Do you have any proxies in your environment? I have had this issue.
Also check the Event View and SharePoint Logs. Event viewer should show any errors. Post them up here. Alas to no avail. When others have followed the instructions by Harbar, have you started any other services? If yes, which ones? To recap Win 2008 R2 SharePoint 2010 SP1 July 2012 CU SQL 2008 R2 I open the 1433 port I create an SQL Alias I set local admin access I set local login Run Config Wizard (not using the AutoSPInstall) I then follow the Harbar instructions to create the UPS.
