Agreed: Application-level multicast is the only thing feasible on the 
public Internet at this time (and for the foreseeable future). Inside 
corporate and education networks, native IP multicast is often deployed 
for certain applications... though with lots of manual setup required 
for RP choice, allowed source addresses, and the like.
