This sequence is the for a typical Palm VII form submission
(simplified):
1. Clipper partially URL encodes the form submission and sends a
specialized request to the Palm Net proxy server.
2. The Palm Net proxy server completes the URL encoding (the bulk of
the binary expansion) then tries to submit the complete URL (supplied
URL + URL encoded form params) to the designated site.
3. The proxy server reads the response from the designated site.
4. Based upon the requested response-size and 'chunk', the proxy server
takes the appropriate portion of the response and compresses it.
5. Last, the compressed response is sent back to the Palm VII. Clipper
stores it in a cache, decompresses it, and displays it.
Web clipping requires the assistance of a Palm Net proxy server.
Theoretically you could set up your own web clipping proxy server on
your LAN, but that would be a much bigger project than setting up a web
server visible on the internet.
So, to repeat - the emulator can reach IP addresses on your LAN, but the
Palm Net Web Clipping Proxy server - which Palm VII's rely on to
implement the bulk of web clipping - can only reach IP addresses which
are visible to it.
I hope that clears up my earlier post.

Subject: Re: Accessing a LAN machine from the Palm VII Emulator
Given this statement can you get a URL from within the PQA like
http://kzarefos/test/page.html to work? I can't, but if I put the
same HTML page out on the internet on my personal domain it works fine.
Is there a setting I need to set so that the Palm Emulator
looks at local intranet machines. Or is what you are saying that the
emulator always goes through the external Palm Proxy server?
Is this configurable?
