Modern versions of HotSync for Windows do preserve record unique IDs, but
I'm afraid the same can't be said for modern versions of HotSync for
Macintosh. Until unique IDs are preserved across all platforms and all
commonly used versions of the desktop software, your best bet is to generate
your own unique IDs and store them in the records.
