Chip - 

  You can enter the shortcut either from within MemoPad or in the Find 
dialog (activated by the silksceen button).  This allows you to actually 
see the shortcut you are writing while you are doing it.

I know this reply may be a bit late, but doesn't "shortcut . 5" allow this
to take place.

If I recall correctly, it should erase the user's name and random number.
The next hot sync you have, the device appears to be a never-before-synced
device.
